Bb. G. Pilipinas Q8 - Sportswear Competition

4:15 AM

Last May 9, the sportswear competition for Binibini and Ginoong Pilipinas Kuwait was held at Marina Hotel.

At 12 KD per entrance ticket the audience turn out was actually a success. The ticket includes a light dinner meal and when I say light I meant sandwhiches. To the Filipino's who's reading this can share the audience dismay when they learned there will be no rice that night. It is really funny because even I who swore off rice forever got disappointed.

Anyhoo, food aside, I'd like to say that the night was a hit. Despite the late start, it was just enough to give the contestants enough time to breathe, take photo ops and the audience to mingle.
The night wasn't just about the sportswear competition. They also showed the Talent Night that was held last April 8 (?) on a projector screen. There is something discomforting about watching someone perform their hasty prepared talents up on the white screen for the top notch judges to watch. My best bet for that talent night was Benj who played the drums, Mae who sang Christina Aguilera's Beautiful and Joanna who did a ballroom dance number.

The judges are big wigs from the Philippine Embassy Vice Consul Ms. Oreta, the big boss of Agility Mr. Cooper, the Athletes Foot country manager and many more. I sat there watching them cover their faces in what I can only guess between horror and hilarity.

Kuya Ricky, who is now a GMA tv correspondent for Kuwait, was usual was at his best host of the night self. Maxine, who is the ABS - CBN correspondent for Kuwait, did the voice over and beautiful voice she got there.

The night also includes the showing of the latest scores for the 24 contestants left. I can't get my head round to how the scoring is being done but I know that most of it comes from the judges, there's from the voting from the Filipinos in Kuwait website for Miss and Mr. Photogenic , then there's the buying of tickets/ stubs and DVD's in which an equivalent point will be added to your contestants score.

It was a good night to mingle with Kabayans and watch a Filipino event held in one of the best hotel here in Kuwait. I strongly recommend that we all come and play dress up for the Coronation night this June at Movenpick Hotel.
